All our products are manufactured under strict quality control standards in New Zealand but we like to think of ourselves as having a truly global contribution to the development of our products. All our organic and bio-dynamic ingredients are wild harvested in New Zealand. All other ingredients are sourced from selected growers around the world who share in our philosophy of providing only the most premium natural ingredients. Our recyclable packaging comes from suppliers who are world leaders in producing environmentally friendly and sustainable packaging.

YES! The unique native extracts we use in our products are indigenous to New Zealand and the molecular properties of the plants are very different to anything else you will find on the planet. Some of the native ingredients can only be found on Great Barrier Island which display a very high level of antibacterial, antiseptic, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties compared to other plant species so what you get is potent stuff.

All Sven’s Island products have been tested to last 36 months after opening and if stored under 25 degrees, away from sunlight. All our products go through a stringent stability testing program to make sure they can last the distance. We use a GMP Good Manufacturing Practice and ISO9000 approved manufacturing facility and all products undergo rigorous testing before making it to the shelf.  One key factor is our 100% natural preservative system which has potent antibacterial and antimicrobial agents.This is very important as our products are often used on children or people with broken skin and contaminated products can be dangerous.

Although all our products use 100% natural ingredients we understand that during pregnancy the immune system is affected and this can do unusual things to your skin, along with the rest of your body. So, we prefer that any expectant mother check with her physician before changing her skin care routine with our products.

Everybody is different and what works for some may not work for others. Some people do have allergies to natural ingredients. All our products are FREE from nut additives and chemical derivatives which can cause adverse reactions, however, with any natural product we always recommend that you do a patch test first just to be sure.

Our products can be used anywhere on the body except directly in the eyes.

We do not use actual bee venom or pollen in our products – the only bee by-product we do use is beeswax and honey. However, these ingredients only make up a fraction of our ingredients so if you are allergic to bee by-products, then we do not suggest doing a small patch test first. We recommend that you contact your health care provider when changing your skin care regimen to find out which products are best for you.

Our products are made from natural ingredients so there is no reason why our fun loving friends cannot enjoy the benefits of our products as well. However, we have never tested our products on animals, and our products are not meant for consumption. If you have any concerns about using a product on your pet or if you have a pet that has ingested a product, please contact your veterinarian.

Sven’s Island does NOT conduct product or ingredient tests of any kind on animals. The only animal by-product we use in our products is organic beeswax and honey which is sustainably sourced from our buzzy little “bee” friends.

At Sven’s Island, we believe that with any natural personal care product that there is an important distinction between natural and organic. We meet the 100% natural classification for all our products instead of 100% organic because we feel the organic standards for personal care products leave too much room for interpretation.

The standards and requirements that currently exist for organic products require that only 75% of the product is made with certified organic ingredients. The issue is with the remaining 25% of the product. This remaining 25% can include non-organic and synthetic ingredients.

However, some of our ingredients are certified 100% organic but we choose to label our products as 100% natural to discourage any confusion for our customers.
